Principals see more emotional problems

Dealing with students’ mental and emotional health has soared to the top of K-8 principal’s concerns, according to a new survey by the National Association of Elementary School Principals, reports New America’s Roxanne Garza.

Addressing emotional problems, which ranked eighth in the 2008 study is now the top concern with mental health issues in second place.

Instructional practices, teacher performance and staff training have slipped to seventh, eighth and ninth place.
