Online colleges target California

Southern New Hampshire University has so many online students in southern California that it held a commencement ceremony in Anaheim this year.

Online colleges are recruiting like crazy in California, reports Gary Robbins in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Penn State, the University of Maryland, Purdue, Old Dominion, Colorado State, Arizona State, the University of Arizona, Southern New Hampshire University and Grand Canyon University have launched ad campaigns to sign up adult learners.

Some question the quality of online education and the costs can be high, writes Robbins.  However, “about one-third of the country’s 19.6 million college students took at least one online course in 2016,” and the numbers keep increasing.
