Carnival of Homeschooling

Freedom is the theme of this week’s Carnival of Homeschooling.  Homeschooled Mom writes:  “I don’t really see a point in having the legal right to homeschool, only to check with everyone and their mother before deciding on a curriculum, event, or even a political stance.  Homeschooling is an individual endeavor, and I believe that while input and opinions are nice, they are just that.  We have to remember that as parents, WE ARE IN CHARGE.”

This week’s Carnival of Homeschooling, presents the Vlog Hop, which I take to be a video conversation by bloggers. Host Andrea of Notes from a Homeschooled Mom demonstrates here.

Carnival of Homeschooling

Homeschooled Mom is hosting this week’s Carnival of Homeschooling, which includes Happy Elf Mom’s lament about science errors in Christian curriculum.

Our science curriculum is also a lovely, easy-to-use package.  Most of the information it contains is pretty timeless and factually correct.  Parts of a flower.  Simple machines.  That sort of thing.  But I’m not using this stuff next year because it groups humans in its own group apart from all animals.  The “scientific” reason being that Man has a soul and therefore is in an altogether different category by itself.

She doesn’t want her kid “laughed out of college.”
