Pell aid goes up, but so does tuition

The near-doubling of Pell Grant funding hasn’t decreased borrowing by low-income students, who are supposed to be the beneficiaries. States have cut funding and colleges have raised tuition using federal aid to make up the difference.

      Don’t be silly, Allen. That would mean the colleges are charging whatever they think students can pay! They’d never do that. It wouldn’t be good for the c-h-i-l-d-r-e-n.

        Educators, one and all, would never engage in such behavior being driven not by a lust for filthy lucre but by a pure love of learning thus elevated above the common herd.
