Silent or spoiled for ‘Game of Thrones’

A French math teacher quiets classroom chatter by threatening to write Game of Thrones spoilers on the board. Most of his students are fans of the TV series. The teacher has read all the books.

When students defied him, he wrote the names of everyone killed through the end of the series’ third season on the board, reports Belgium’s Nieuwsblad, which picked up the story from a French site, DansTonChat. A “religious silence” was maintained for the rest of the lesson, a student said.

Given that the third season ended a year ago, I’m surprised the students were all that awestruck; surely any serious fans already knew what had happened last year.

Now, if the teacher had written out the names of those who die during the *fourth* season — not yet broadcast — he would really capture their attention!

Reading the books provides some background but the series isn’t following the books precisely, and the author of the books still hasn’t finished the saga and won’t before the series winds up. Supposedly he has briefed the producers on what is supposed to happen in the 3 (I think) remaining unwritten volumes.

    • I think the threat was that he would *keep going* with the list if they didn’t settle down.

Let’s make our own list. This season the first to die will be………..:-)

Well, that threat would not be very credible, since everyone knows that (a) the show is not following the books exactly, and (b) we know there are 10 episodes but not exactly what (even in the book(s) will be covered, especially since books 4-5 are parallel rather than sequential in time and we don’t know how far the show will get in Book 3+this season.

IOW, the teacher can’t and doesn’t know who will die in season 4. Maybe he’s just a good faker.

        • Stacy in NJ says:

Oh, I think those of us who’ve read the books can predict accurately who the next dead guy will be.

Whoever you love the most….. ;)
I don’t watch the show… and I gave up on the books after 4, I think… because I decided I wanted to read FSF authors who actually LIKED some of their characters! :) Though I may pick them up again if he ever finishes the series…..

  2. The real question is who the heck needs to threaten kids to get them to settle down?
