Should community colleges recruit the rich?

Community colleges increasingly are segregated by race and class, charges a new report, which urges public two-year colleges to start honors programs to lure affluent white students and high achievers. But others say community colleges enroll a wide range of students and should focus on educating the students they’ve already got.

  1. What kind of nonsense is this? I attended
the local community college here and earned
two degrees (one in 2002, the other in 2008)
and was awarded high honors (not that I went
to either graduation), I just picked up my diploma
    at the office.

Why would a community college need to worry
about high achievers and whites (i’m Asian American
btw), but they should be looking at getting students
who are motivated through the programs and
coursework they need so that they can graduate.
