You don’t need a BA to work at McDonald’s

Job seekers don’t need a bachelor’s degree and experience to work at McDonald’s, reports the Boston Globe.

An independent job search site inaccurately claimed the McDonald’s in Winchendon, Massachusetts was looking for college graduates with one to two years of experience to work as cashiers.

  1. There’s fact-checking, and then there’s just bothering to think about a claim at all. At least half of the employees at any McDonald’s I’ve ever been in at supper time were high-school kids – that is, without a high-school diploma yet, let alone college. Kids who can only work for a few hours after school are a great match for a business that needs a surge of unskilled workers in the early evening. Staffing a restaurant with full-time adult employees is much more difficult.
