Do certificates pay?

Certificates don’t always pay off,  the New York Times complains in The Newest College Credential.  Overall, however, one-year vocational certificate programs can be an excellent choice for students who don’t have the academic skills or motivation to complete a bachelor’s degree. Community colleges offer low-cost certificate programs that are a very good deal; completion rates are relatively high.  Some people with technical certificates (and associate degrees) earn more than people with non-technical bachelor’s degrees.
