Thanks for the mention, Joanne! My contribution to the Common Core standards was minor and brief, but it was a great experience. And yes, I have strong misgivings about putting pressure on states to adopt them (through Race to the Top)–not because the standards themselves are lacking, but because they require thoughtful implementation and excellent curricula.
