Student video nabs thieving teacher

Florida high school students set up a cell phone camera to find out who was stealing from their lockers: The locker thief was a P.E. teacher.

Sheriff’s deputies said Steven Simmons, 49, denied the thefts till confronted with the video. Then he confessed he’s been stealing from North Marion High students for years. About $400 has been taken this year.

Instapundit predicts the response will be to ban students from using video cameras at school. Indeed, “a school spokesman said it’s possible the student who recorded the cell phone video could get in trouble as well because students are not supposed to use their phones during the day.”

I say good for the students. Send them to detention for violating the cell camera & locker room policy, then give them a medal for catching the crook.
