Why Stanford failed

A Model School Flops, my column on the closure of a charter school run by Stanford’s School of Education, is up at Pajamas Media.

I think Stanford education professors, led by Linda Darling-Hammond, showed courage in starting a school to educate the neediest students. They wanted to try their ideas in the real world.  As Whitney Tilson says, all education schools should do this. But . . . Well, read the PJ column.

And, thanks to Instapundit for the link.

  1. I enjoyed your article… but the comments, wow… off the deep end. Seriously Joanne, doesn’t that make you cringe?

  2. Stanford failed because it is an ed school. No other explanation is necessary.

Joanne, do you think this crash-and-burn experience will cause them to change anything that they teach at the Stanford Ed. program? My guess is, “no,” but I’m a cynic 🙂

  4. Mark asks the important question. Will the folks at Stanford learn from their encounter with reality, or are they so wedded to their ideology that they’ll find a way to obfuscate the results. It’ll be interesting to observe.

  5. The reason it failed is simple: the process liberals use are flawed. they took them on field trips told them how great they were gave them all medals for showing up spent time telling them they were special and wanted them to become Global Citizens. Last time I checked I was in the USA. Clowns would do a better job. It is no surprise we have such a bunch of Informed voters. NEWS FLASH 113 deaths in Obama’s home town (CHICAGO ). ONE a day??? BRING ON THE GUARD AND BRING ON NOVEMBER
