LA charter fight gets ugly

As Los Angeles Unified contemplates turning more schools into charters, parents in a heavily immigrant neighborhood received an anonymous flier written in Spanish:  “DO NOT SIGN ANY PETITIONS FOR A CHARTER SCHOOL BECAUSE YOU COULD BE DEPORTED.”

While United Teachers Los Angeles, the union representing LAUSD teachers, was not directly linked to the flyer, some district officials and community advocates said they believed it came from rogue union members.

But union leaders denounced the flyer as “despicable.”

Superintendent Ramon Cortines tried to reassure parents that nobody in the district knows or cares about their immigration status.

And so it comes to this.

Isn’t it time we started getting serious about illegals? I.E., if you’e illegal, or the “American” child of illegals, no, you don’t have a right to antything in the US?

Sorry, bleeding hearts, but I am an old taxpayers who has simply had enough.

  2. Hear, hear, Bill.

People talk about “birthright” citizenship for illegal aliens (the so-called “anchor babies”), but such citizenship is the fruit of the parent’s crime of illegal entry and residence.  The government treats the fruits of a crime as forfeit, and this citizenship should be no different.

The children are citizens of the parents’ home country.  Send them all there.
