Are kids learning enough about whales?

The Onion asks: Are Our Children Learning Enough About Whales?

Currently, 84 percent of school funding is spent teaching children about whales. Is that enough? Should every school have its own whale?

  • I know this piece has been around for awhile, but it’s still one of my favorite videos ever from the Onion. I especially love the woman singing whale songs. If only I could write half as well as the folks who write this stuff. :-)

  • “My mama was too busy workin’ to be cooin’ any whale songs to me.”

    Gotta love The Onion. :)

  • LOL!

Particularly ironic for me because the only family night I remember from elementary school was whale night :)

  • All elementary school students should be forced to watch “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” once a week, every week, until they love whales… or want to watch more Star Trek. :P

  • As someone whose entire sixth grade education seemed centered around The Voyage of the Mimi, I love that they chose whales for this piece.
