Jeb Bush needs to learn the distinction between "Improved" and "Enhanced". He wants education to be more like milk: harvested through tubes in factories from cattle that have been genetically altered, pumped up on steroids and kept artifically pregnant until they are slaughtered and ground up into a hamburger. Thats freedom, innovation and competition.

Jeb missed organic milk - which costs about twice as much as nonorganic. Would that make organic milk the private option?

He has an interesting way with words, that one does.

[...] (H/T Joanne Jacobs) A staff writer for Florida’s St. Petersburg Times covered last week’s Excellence in Action 2009 conference in Washington, D.C. (For the uninitiated, this conference is the education reform roadshow of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.) As one might expect, being there in person was much better than just reading the article, which picked up on Bush’s opening remarks Thursday afternoon: “You can get flavored milk — chocolate, strawberry or vanilla — that doesn’t even taste like milk,” he said. “Most of the time, there is a whole other refrigerator case dedicated to milk alternatives — like soy milk, almond milk and rice milk. They even make milk for people who can’t drink milk.” [...]

I wonder if he would hold all of the improvements to the same standards and use just one test to measure them all.

Mike: "His definition of “improve” must be different than mine."

Well, my definition of "improve" is clearly different than yours, then. What privileges your (or, quelle horreur, the government's) opinion of what is "best"? Why should I be forced to buy the product that you like?

"One size fits all" is indistinguishable from "One size fits none".

He could have also pointed out that milk is more expensive then it needs to be due to government price supports. At least though when you pay for a gallon of milk you actually get a gallon of milk. Not necessarily the case when you pay for a gallon of education.
