Win with Words

Students can enter the National Vocabulary Championship via the Win with Words web site — if they’re not too pavid to try. I checked out the sample questions, which seemed easy till I got to “mordacious,” “pavid,” “yataghan” and “zymosis.” I did know (guess correctly) the meaning of “culverin.”
