Brown vs. unequal education

The Topeka school that figured in Brown vs. the Board of Education has closed. A group of educators including Cheryl Brown Henderson, sister of plaintiff Linda Brown, wants to use the building for a charter school for at-risk students. Chalkboard observes:

What was once a battlefield between whites and blacks could eventually emerge as a public charter school that serves special needs students of all races.

Martin Luther King III celebrated the anniversary of Brown vs. the Board last week by visiting a charter school in Albany, New York.

Makes you wonder how different it would have been if the equal had been enforced rather tham the seperate halted. Bus them across town and forget them would not have been considered an option.
