Blogger v. blogger

Betsy Newmark of Betsy’s Page comes off well in a Washington Post Magazine story pitting the “very conservative” Betsy (does the writer know no conservatives?) against a liberal blogger, Barbara O’Brien of MahaBlog.

Comments

  1. I checked out Betsy’s site and I found her conservatism to be vicious and irrational.

It’s hard to believe that Joanne Jacobs can stomach her writing.

  2. In fairness, the article goes on to identify O’Brien as a “very liberal blogger”. I’m alittle surprised you presented this so one sidedly.

Did I miss something here? Joanne posted:

And the previous comments imply that Joanne recommends/likes Betsy’s website and that she is one sided in her favoring of Betsy.

Am I not reading enough into Joanne’s one sentence or are others reading too much into it? It is always hard to predict what is going to get someone’s panties in a wad but a one sentence statement that in Joanne’s opinion one person in a newspaper article came out sounding better than another did not seem to be a good candidate.

Don’t know many libruls, eh, Ross?

those damn factual teachers will do that to you when they demonstrate the ultimate vaccuity of liberal and demokkkrat positions. I think I am in love. Thanks, JJ.

  6. Ms. Jacobs had lunch with her a few days ago, linked to her website and referred to her writing twice this month.

So I imagine she likes her writing or at least finds value in it.

I find it odd because Betsy uses logical fallacies in just about every one of her pieces and Ms. Jacobs never stoops that low.

Of course, Walter E. Wallis doesn’t proclaim his love for her, but it’s the price she pays.
