'Mattie' sues

The principal and assistant principal of a Virginia elementary school are accused in a lawsuit of abusing an 11-year-old boy named Matthew by forcing the fifth grader to wear red fingernail polish, lipstick, and a bow in his hair and telling other students to consider him a new student named “Mattie.”

    Would it have hurt for the article to give just a hint of the reason the boy was given the treatment? Isn’t that one of the W’s?

  2. Like Walter, I’m concerned about what isn’t in the story. What were the circumstances that led these school administrators to take this action? As the story stands it seems like they just came to school one day and decided to pick on this boy. I assume there is more here than shows up in this story.

  3. Absolutely. I watching in CA as a number of rabid Right-wing groups accused teachers of many insane things. This reeks of “selective reality”…and yet, I’ve seen princicpals do very strange things.
    Looking forward to more on this one!
