Good cheer

Cheerleaders at North Medford High in Oregon didn’t raise enough money pay for a trip to the Orange Bowl, so the squad is spending the money they did raise to send gift packages to soldiers spending Christmas in Iraq.

One thing to be careful of – I read recently that the Army post office is no longer accepting care packages for ‘any’ soldier. That is, unless they are addressed to a specific serviceman, they will be discarded. This is due to logistical constraints – Donald Sensing commented the article a little while back (I can’t find the link). I believe the USO is still be able to get generic packages to soldiers, but simply sending them directly won’t work anymore.
