Moral aspirations

Visiting a KIPP school, Rob Lucas, a Teach for America teacher and blogger, sees sixth graders discussing “how much of their own moral behavior was low-level, motivated by desire for reward and fear of disapproval. Then they aspired, with seeming sincerity, to a higher-level, more intrinsic morality.” Lucas is impressed.
