Comment registration

I’m switching to a new system for comments, which will require everyone to register once. After that, you’ll be able to post on any blog using TypeKey for comments. But I’m not sure it’s working yet. It doesn’t ask me to register. But maybe that’s because I already am registered. At any rate, let me know how it’s working for you. If you’re able to leave a comment, of course.

I’m hoping this will defeat the evil robots that have been posting dozens — sometimes hundreds — of spam messages on my old posts.

About Joanne

  1. I’ve deleted the many messages from people saying: IT DOESN’T WORK! I think it’s now allowing people to register without me having to personally approve each comment. We’re working on the ugliness issue.

  2. I’m sorry to hear that people were rude to you. If something didn’t work, it’s not you, it’s the software. It’s not as if you deliberately set TypeKey to fail, or for the comments to look ugly. As far as I’m concerned, if a page is readable (like your comments section), it’s not ugly. Pink text on a green background, OTOH …

  3. No one was rude. It’s my brother the webmaster who’s frustrated by his inability to redesign the TypeKey prompts. He’s working on it.

A number of people have registered as commenters. I think this will be on track in a few days.

  4. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I got the wrong impression from the all-caps in “IT DOESN’T WORK!”. I’ve seen people get crude before when blogs have technical difficulties. Your commenters are the most civilized I’ve seen and I should have taken that into consideration. My apologies to everyone here.
